Monday 4th of Sep will witness billion dollar windfall for IPL according to BCCI expectations from IPL auction for 2018-22 media rights.Previously it was Sony Picture Netweork who bought IPL media rights at 8200 crore in 2008.
BCCI is expecting earning of over 20000 crore from Media rights auction through traditional bidding process.Media rights falls under two categories - broadcast and digital rights(internet and mobile).
Rights on offer are Indian sub-continental TV rights along with digital rights, international markets like Middle East, Africa, Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
Although Rights will be for the period of 5 years,Rahul Johri(CEO BCCI) said revenue generation from the upcoming IPL media auctions could be "historic".
